I was mesmerized by Van Gogh's The Yellow House and wanted to know how he painted it. I think children have an extraordinary ability for objectivity you know which again is quite sort of practical they're not saying oh isn't that odd. They seem to skip that whole way where they need a handle to hang on to in order to understand something that's an adult. It's a learned response. Yes exactly what does it mean? I don't think children care less about what it means, more what am I looking atwhat do I recognize what do I not recognize?" she says.
