i made a sincere effort to steal man am, the argument made by ronperser and others. And sould have come at it from a number of different angles and tried to find some in it, and i wound up failing. So then i instead tried to say, rather cynically, what kind of motivations people who make that argument might have. That's kind of unfair, buti did want to try to understand what's going on. It was one of the most interesting points er, the idea that being a buddhist is a kind of social signalling. I don't know if that's right, but it was the best sense i could make of what's going onto
