Bees Can Serve as Little Signal Amplifiers
Bees can serve as little signal amplifiers. They do something that in the beekeeping jargon is called sanding. And we found out doing some preliminary experiments that bees use that sanding behavior to inform bees that are further away from the queen. It's like a little telecommunication network where the bees, a bee that senses the ferromons of the queen would stop at a particular distance and start sanding towards the less informed bees. Then another bee would come from behind to do the same thing and the same things and the same thing. So they all sent in a direction that if you follow all the sanding events, you would end up where the queen is. We think that
