The Importance of Sacramental Dispensation in the Church

I think we have lost the capacity to distinguish without feeling like we are discriminating in the 21st century. The sacrament of penance is for healing post baptismal sin, especially those of a grave nature. Holy Communion is for incorporating us more perfectly in the mystical body to which we already pertain by our baptism and the grace which is at work in our lives. It burns up light faults and small, like venial sins. And it also kindles the flame of charity more, you know, ardently into flame,. But it doesn't heal in the strict sense in the way that penance does or in the kind of profound sense that penancedoes.
