If the 1970s are any guide, you can lose on both stocks and bonds. The other lesson of the 1970s is that real estate housing outperformed in the US. I have a very idiosyncratic trade called the historic real estate trade. It's really hard to make a 16th century house in 2023. They don't make them anymore.
