The Lord Says, I'm Good. Move Forward.
In Zechariah 1, we read this pronouncement to Zerubbabel. It says that he's going to be the governor of Judah and that the Lord's going to shake the heavens and the earth. And then in the 23rd verse, he calls him a signant for I have chosen thee. Robert Alter: We can't use those words because it's a political hot potato. He says while neither king nor anointed appears in text, these could be politically dangerous terms.
