The fourth crusade never makes it to the holy land. The main beneficiaries are europeans who are interested in those holy relics which now come flooding into western europe, where they had previously been in constantinople. And it finally puts the nail in the coffin of any hope of reconciliation between the eastern and western churches. This fifth crusade attracts king andrew of hungary, who sets out on an armed pilgrimage with 20 thousand soldiersa. So this is the largest royal army that was ever engaged in a crusadea.
