When we invoke the idea of an author name, we are implicitly pointing to the author and their works. So where does this implicit attachment of the author and work come from? For Foucault, it comes from a kind of penal appropriation. He identifies that there were mythical, sacralized, and sacralizing figures who produced acts in his words.
