The Velshe-Bann Book Club

This year we've had more than two dozen meetings of the Velshe-Bann Book Club featuring 26 different books that have faced calls for banning. According to Penn America, a nonprofit organization that champions the freedom to read and write in the United States, from July 2021 to June 2022, there were 2,532 instances of individual books being banned. Removing books that deal with these three very real topics sends a very clear message to readers that those groups matter less. They certainly shouldn't be discussed in classrooms with kids.
