The Nature of the Iran System

Kemal Khulsh Tohrulul has been leader of the Republican People's Party since 2010. He faced a legal challenge under court case, drummed up by the government on very flimsy political grounds that was designed precisely to head him off as a challenger. The real dilemma for the opposition was to try to cut a line between the rising strengths of the Turkish nationalist movement and also garner votes in the predominantly Kurdish southeast. I would say also that I am skeptical about the extent to which however it played out, the main Turkish opposition as it existed.
