Mozilla and Firefox very much feels like those sort of remnant right-wing political parties that were kept around in state socialist countries. It was a real party, but it just existed to provide a kind of Potemkin edifice of non-monopoly. And so it's not like you boycotting Chrome is gonna do any damage to Google.
