God asks abraham to leave everything that he knows his provision, because his father is one that provides for him the trade. This isn't like avram is living in his mamma's basement. In fact, i'm sure that they probably had an agreement. We are not given any indication in the text that aram and his father have a misunderstanding. But in that culture, to leave your father's household would be, you're re to further your father's legacy. It's the exact opposite of our culture.
