The Different Types of Producers

In the independent world, when you're not dealing with major labels taking 80% of the pie, usually producers are making around 20% or so of the recording. The hip hop world or in the pop world, oftentimes producers make the quote unquote beat and that's typically entitling them to 50%. And then the artist comes in and layers their vocals on top. There's no hard and fast rules or laws about this, but that's typically how it works in the pop and hip hop worldor more so in the hip hop world.
