The Argument for Regulation of Open AI
I don't think that Sam Altman really actually fears the rise of AI, I think he wants it. He's afraid of not being the one at their company being at the center of it. If he really feared what AI might do, then why did they rush to release chat GPT for? Why just smash it out there as fast as you can? It's a market dominance thing. They want to dominate the market. So they're calling for regulation to stop everybody else. And interestingly, open AI sort of alluded to it through indirect news reports that they're going to be releasing their own open source model.
