The U.N. Convention on Asylum
In 19 51, the international community adopted the united nations convention relating to the status of refugees. U and h c r's work helping europe's war refugees was recognized with the nobel peace prize in 19 54. I think what has been very important to put in context is actually those have been the exceptions, but they're not the norm. Most countries do abide by their obligations under under the convention. Their national commitments a testament to that.
