In 2008, when he was in his first year of his master's at Delhi University, a brick came flying through the window. A mob of ABDP students were protesting against an essay written by scholar A.K. Ramanujan. This was seen as some kind of apostasy by the ABDP who said that there is only one Ramayana and there aren't these different Ramayans. And so for the sin of being the departmental chair Professor Jafri also just happened to be a Muslim, it was roughed up. We were again locked into the room where they started pushing the head of the department around. It didn't even seem like a church; this
