The Long and Variable Lags of Higher Interest Rates
I'm not convinced that there is this super strong momentum, which the central banks tend to assume. And yet they're in a really difficult place because the lags are so long. It's almost impossible to tell the difference between a two year lag on inflation and then converse up relative to money growth. All this to my mind points to the risk of over tightening.
