For me, the skin is something that is more rudimentary, more initial in the formation of the ego. And this is why I associated with the working of the drive rather than with the construction of the ego and so on. There's a sort of reaction from the needle. It's not something that's necessarily excruciatingly painful, but it's this steady rhythmic sort of pain. Eventually that becomes pleasurable because of, if you're speaking biologically, at least supposedly there's endorphins released, et cetera.
