The Multi-Strandedness of Chinese Tradition
Cultures are often multi-stranded and we often simplify them when we look back. Within Chinese thought there are also more democratic and more authoritarian strands that aren't the same. Confucius tended to argue that if the ruler was virtuous, then people would be attracted to Kamen de Finne empire and there would be harmony. And these traditions both coexist within China and Mao Zedong scholar Ian Meyer Confucianism very much more than Confucius.
