The Role of Financial Institutions in SARS
I'm aware that financial institutions continue to have a bad reputation. I think the stereotype is they often report the stuff and then it doesn't get acted on. What's, as you say, one of those suspicious activity reports actually doing? And is there the kind of investment in financial intelligence units, particularly in the US and the UK, that's required for anyone to be able to read them? Until those agencies are adequately resourced, it's hard to see that the SARS will actually lead to something. We need to be pleased about the response that financial institutions have made.
