In the 20th century history began to change, and no one emerges thinking that he's the model of the perfect king. Different approaches emerged throughout historical study with increasing conviction that moral judgements are not the job of historians. Henry had far more to do with day to day governance than you might think, and is every bit as rubbish as you've always thought - but nowhere near as innocent as you might have hoped. However far you blame Henry or blame circumstance, what is super clear is that Henry VI was no chip off the old block. He was easily led, and unable to make decisions and swayed by the last person to speak to him. And he was desperate to make peace with France
