Freud's Early Theory of Seduction
Dan Freud started to question the seduction theory and he questioned it for like three reasons. One is some people are traumatized and we can't really find a particularly traumatizing external event. Some people have had externally traumatizing events but it hasn't resulted in pathology. And then thirdly, there's a latency between the event happening and the pathology arising. So this brought him to start to theorize in a different way. Le Can basically argues that what is traumatic is not so much an event, an overwhelming event. But what's traumatic is the unknown desire that lies within it. The earliest question we have as infants is when we ask, what is the other one of us? There
