There's something called the triune model that talks about how when people have developmental trauma, they get stuck in this mammalian brain or this limbic system and they have this automatic sympathetic nervous system response. Once you're able to turn that off, then we can start talking about, okay, well I turned it off. What do I do now? The thoughts are coming.
