Symbiosis and Parasitism

The first biological symbioses we kind of learned about as humans are parasites, but we didn't call them symbioses. Symbiosis is just an umbrella term for any sort of close relationship. An equivalent term for a good relationship that benefits everything involved is mutualism. We knew parasites ex but it took us a while to establish this kind of biological category of two species in a close relationship to each other. And then from there, people started using symbiosis to describe other plants and animals too.
