Do We Really Need to Watch Patients on IV Antibiotics for 24 Hours?

Some peer review agencies say you really need to watch the patient for a day on oral before we send them home. It doesn't make any sense, right? There are very, very few adverse events that take place in that 24 hours anyway. So I think if you really wanted to test whether the oral antibiotic was going to be sufficient, you probably need to keep the patient in the hospital for another two or three days.
