Campbell's Boring Monomyth
Unlike Fry's boring modes of fiction, Campbell's boring monomyth actually like like caught on. It struck a chord with both consumers and creators of popular culture so it's been reproduced and re-articulated many times over. So when I first started to put together the notes for this episode I thought that it would make sense to use the 17 stages as outlined in Campbell's own boring ass words. But again because people have read them and developed them and improved them I think it actually just doesn't make sense to look at his 1949 explanation of what a hero's journey looks like.
