How to Use Backstory as a Story

When backstory as story works best, a linear timeline is one in which the story is told chronologically from beginning to end. Most stories utilize a linear timeline even those that include large sections of dramatized backstory via prologue and flashback. We will discuss this approach more thoroughly next week. If you feel your backstory is so momentous, it requires more than a small percentage of the story's overall length to show, you may be better off exploring one of the remaining three techniques.
