The Unusual Cordelia of San Francisco
Cordelia Bockin was convicted of poisoning Mary Elizabeth Dunning and her sister Ida in 1900. She appealed the verdict but received a new trial, which led to rumors that she had been seen buying chocolates and arsenic from San Francisco stores. In 1906, during the Great Quake, Cordelia is transferred across the bay to San Quentin jail. Her health takes a turn for the worse two years later when she dies at 56.
