Jefferson's Appointment to the Supreme Court

The law the Judiciary Act of 1801 that essentially kind of did all of this included also the reduction of Supreme Court justices from six to five. In some ways Jefferson I think is absolutely right in being apoplectic about that because essentially all the federalists that Adams are doing is removing the possibility of Jefferson for making an appointment. That to me strikes me as just as uncivil as appointing the justices and the peace and so on.
