Are There Similarities Between Black Feminists and Black Women Navigating the Politics of Aspect and Politics?
Danielle: When I was in graduate school, I wanted to go natural. And she looked at me with all earnest and said, you can't do that. You're already studying black feminism. People are going to think you're a scary black feminist and they're not going to hire you. She kept her hair straight and it was awful, awful, awful first job. But the book is a love letter to myself and my hair for what my future girls will look like. It also helped that I was tenured when I started this project. Danielle: If I were not transitioning along with the book or thinking about the book now, things would be different.
