The Role of Copyright in Generative AI
Section 230 expressly does not provide any protection against claims of copyright infringement. It doesn't have any effect on the application of any law pertaining to intellectual property. So, if the question concerns whether AI created works are themselves copyrightable or who exactly is legally responsible when AI infringes copyrighted works, those questions can all be answered in the courts based on the facts of each case and entirely without regard to Section 230.
