The Importance of Freedom in the Amish
The Amish live according to a very elaborate set of rules and restrictions. They have to freely choose their way into baptism after you're 18. New people are born into the community who come to know fewer choices over time. There's a sense in which the liberal looks of the Amishan says, "You're not wholly free"
