The Corsair was the most iconic fighter aircraft in the U.S. arsenal of World War II, but because it was a bad plane. The pilots decided to call themselves Booh-ington's bastards and designed their own squadron insignia. They stylized their bird, the airplane that they were going to fly, the famous gull-winged F4U Corsair. And I don't even think there, nobody knows who came up with that name, but they said, hey, yeah, look at our new name.
