The Japanese Soldier in the Jungle
A Japanese soldier in World War II was stranded on a remote island in the Philippines during the war. He wasn't aware that the war was finished, and so when they finally dropped leaflets into the jungle to find the last holdouts of Japanese soldiers, he didn't believe them. It ended up taking him 27 years to finally come out of the jungle. "He's fascinating in just how un-nuanced of a thinker he was," says director Mark Wahlberg.
