The History of Middle Earth

In The Notion Club Papers, Tolkien experimented with the idea of basically telling a present day story about descendants of Numenor. There's actually a character named Alwyn Arendelle Lautem who discovers the History of NumenOr and discovers the Adonatic language in his dreams. He gave that dream to Pheromir in the books, which Peter Jackson then proceeded to give to Aowyn. But hey, at least it was there I suppose. Eventually.
