The Differences in the Nuclear World Today

There's no one reason why these states gave up the bomb. Sometimes it was American security guarantees like to West Germany and Italy that we will defend you. Other times it was an effort on the part of the international community to create a non-proliferation treaty. Some, not all, autocracies, some signed the treaty and either continued cheating on it or started getting nuclear materials and then cheated after they had signed the treaty. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is now suspended.
