Nasal breathing has come really into play because of the ability to help train the entirety of the respiratory system. You can do it during zone two training, meaning running really slow on a treadmill. There are so many benefits to high intensity interval training. If you're only breathing through your nose, you're going to be limiting the capacity of which you can do that. It's like trying to teach a swimmer to not breathe anywhere except in between when they're making their flip turns.
