Fauber's Machine
Fauber's machine was first seen in 1845 at an exhibition in Philadelphia. The device could be considered a modified organ, controlled by foot pedals and a keyboard. A bellows pumped air through an artificial larynx that had vocal cords said to be made of rubber.
