Observing What Is Awakening
Meditation is about being lost in thought and clearly aware of whatever the object of meditation is. In a montra base or concentration based practice, you try to pay attention to one thing to the exclusion of everything else. This type of meditation can produce extraordinarily positive states of mind that you can feel bliss and rapture. The second type of meditation, which i have spent much more time doing, is often described as mindfulness. You are not trying to selectively notice one thing or another; you are trying to break the spell of being distracted by thought.
