Smoke from a BD has 3-5 times more nicotine than a cigarette. We lose around 80,000 crore rupees a year in dealing with poor health and deaths from BD smoking. Tacking on a tax of just 5% will lead to a drop in consumption by 1.7%. For the government, it could be a nice boost to revenue collection as well.
