The Pronunciation of Old English
There really was not one Old English language. During the period of the English Saxons there was tremendous variation in the dialects within England. Vowels are very tricky and notoriously difficult to pin down. So we have to be careful in saying anything too definitively about the way that Old English quote unquote was pronounced.
