Growing Up in the Northeast

"I tell everybody I'm like a reformed Yankee, right? I love the South. I've been down in the South since high school," he says. "My father was an MP back in the early days of Vietnam and went on to 20 years in the sheriff's department." He grew up under his ex-military father who arrested him once for carrying pre-columbine knives at school. The arrest helped keep it off his record when he joined the military afterwards.
