The German Army's Survival in the Southern Soviet Union
All German tanks had two-way radios, which was not true of Soviet tanks. They could see and target enemy tanks far more effectively than the Soviets. As a result, this desperate German holding action enabled the German army to survive in part of the Southern Soviet Union. Then the spring mud came along and turned the entire battlefield into mud. The Germans looked at this point at the word superior tactics. There was a break. They waited for the ground to harden up too. It would take a miracle to save Germany, a miracle that I ironically had saved Frederick the Great during the Seven Years' War.
