The Future of Artificial Intelligence

Some people think there are two different potential paths to artificial intelligence. One is create a whole system from scratch by programming or learning but second is to simulate a human brain. Once you've uploaded my memories into a machine it's an interesting question about whether that machine is a version of me and would I actually be aware that I'm in the machine? Will there actually be some kind of conscious subjective experience inside that computer or will it just be a giant zombie robot with no consciousness at all?
