The Importance of Ultrasound for IDJ Insertion
In the US guidelines, they do say, and this used to be the primary recommendation in the Shake and Bendy-Mook to avoid femoral. They've switched that in favor of what they call a more positive recommendation in favor of the subclavian. In the French guideline, interestingly, they say the IDJ is probably not preferred over femoral but with strong consensus recommendation. And there are some other strategies that are reinforced in the Shea Compendium Update.
