There's over 300 playable characters in the game. You can buy new characters as well if you don't unlock them right away. There are 17 codes floating around the internet for anyone who wants to unlock Shami and, you know, Santa 3PO and Poe Dameron and a Christmas sweater. The last LEGO game that I played had a lot of options for playing as minifigures was LEGO Marvel Superheroes. It seems like almost any comic book marvel character is out there because it's not based on films.
