The Ground Floor 21 in the Physics Building?
It's on the side of a hill. So, for example, there are seven stories at one end of the building, ad three at the other. And this has something to do with the hill, yes, in some way. Also, i say, there are other buildings on the same side of the embankment, and there are corridors linking these different buildings. What would be floor number one for one building is actually floor 21 for a linked building. They wanted some consistent scheme that would make sense to everyone. But the question remains, why did they whi ise the ground floor 21 in the physics billet?
In 1883, Missouri real estate broker James Reavis announced that he held title to a huge tract of land in the Arizona Territory. If certified, the claim would threaten the livelihoods of thousands of residents. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll tell the story of the Baron of Arizona, one of the most audacious frauds in American history.
We'll also scrutinize British statues and puzzle over some curious floor numbers.
