There is a real danger here, if scientists come less and less willing to speak out. It almost feels like a bit of a vicious cycle. People who make the abuse of attack make their side appear completely unreasonable and dangerous. And then the people who receive the abuse can, quite correctly say that they've just been tremendously abused.
