The Hospitalers of the Order of Saint-Jean
Jean d'Arne was born in 1515, the third and youngest son of an important nobleman with estates all over Piquity, Artois and Boulogne. His father intended a career in the church for the Middle Brother. But Jean's father had another idea in mind: something that would give the family great prestige. He would become a hospitaler, a knight of the Order of Saint-Jean.
