Rituals are an essential piece of being human. We have to sympathize with our prey to be able to hunt it successful. And so we ritualize all o this, and it's incredibly important. Just look at the complexity of emotions and ethics for veganism. It seems like the best that we can do is just, you know, dive in and try to do it ourselves.
